Observatory Building, Lebbius Woods
3/32″ scale model of a conceptual Observatory Building.
The project involved working with the late Lebbius Woods. His body of work is recognized as one of the most visionary in modern architecture. We worked closely with Leb on material selection and the final character of the model. Many of the construction techniques we used were developed specifically for this project.
The model was constructed of custom milled exotic woods, copper, tin, plaster and brass. The metals were patinaed and the plaster was colorized with watercolor.
The model was commissioned by Mr. Woods for an exhibit of his work in a New York gallery.
